DBL D BAR Beefmaster Ranch (Dd)
Prioritizes the continuous improvement of our genomic ranking within the Beefmaster breed by scouting "High Octane" bulls and heifers.
Our breeding program focuses on the Six Essentials that form the foundation of the Beefmaster breed: Weight, Conformation, Milking Ability, Fertility, Disposition, and Hardiness. These essentials not only enhance the quality of our herd but also add significant value to any purebred or commercial operation. Beefmasters are an excellent choice for discerning cattlemen.
THE RANCH
Emphasizes natural breeding practices to maintain the fertility and health of our herd.
We carefully review the pedigrees of dams and herd sires to avoid line-breeding, rotating herd sires to different pastures and breeding partners.
Purebred Calves at DBL D BAR
Conditioned for seed-stock development, that includes vaccinations, regular weighing for birth and weaning, yearling weight measurements, ultrasound evaluations, dehorning as needed, and classification of all calves according to BBU standards at least once a year.
Recently, we launched a commercial meat herd consisting of purebred cows crossed with a Jersey bull to produce high-quality beef for select customer meat markets and restaurants. This initiative underscores our commitment to Beef on Dairy semen sales, both in the USA and Europe.
ON THE RANCH Pastures
Sufficiently expansive to support our cow / calf operations, accommodating up to 125 producing Dams and 2-4 main Herd-Sires.
We allocate pastures for primary herds of purebred, naturally bred, and artificially inseminated Beefmaster dams, as well as one commercial herd for E6 progeny produced from Beefmaster dams and Jersey bulls. Additionally, the pastures include pens dedicated to the maintenance of our herd sires, the development of heifers and young bulls, and care for first-calf heifers.
Our Primary Purebred BEEFMASTER HERDS
Typically consist of up to 60 dams per pasture, with distinct spring and fall calving seasons in each herd.
